B1 Verbs like gustar (encantar, interesar, doler)

advertisement

Once you understand gustar, a whole family of verbs follows the same backwards pattern: the thing is the subject, and an indirect pronoun (me/te/le/nos/os/les) shows the person.

Me encanta el chocolate.I love chocolate.
Nos interesa la historia. We’re interested in history.
Le molesta el ruido. The noise bothers him/her.
Me duele la cabeza. My head hurts.
Te falta un euro. You’re one euro short.

Use the singular (encanta) for one thing/an infinitive, and the plural (encantan) for plural things.
