A1 Subject pronouns (yo, tú, él…)

advertisement

Spanish subject pronouns tell you who does the action. Because the verb ending already shows the person, you often drop the pronoun.

yoI
you (informal)
él / ella / ustedhe / she / you (formal)
nosotros/aswe
vosotros/asyou all (Spain, informal)
ellos / ellas / ustedesthey / you all

Tú vs usted

Use with friends, family and people your age; use usted to be polite or formal (with strangers, elders, in business). Usted takes the same verb form as él/ella.
