A1 Subject pronouns (yo, tú, él…)
advertisement
Spanish subject pronouns tell you who does the action. Because the verb ending already shows the person, you often drop the pronoun.
| yo | I |
| tú | you (informal) |
| él / ella / usted | he / she / you (formal) |
| nosotros/as | we |
| vosotros/as | you all (Spain, informal) |
| ellos / ellas / ustedes | they / you all |
Tú vs usted
Use tú with friends, family and people your age; use usted to be polite or formal (with strangers, elders, in business). Usted takes the same verb form as él/ella.
