A2 The personal “a”

When the direct object of a verb is a specific person (or a pet), Spanish inserts a before it. There’s no translation in English.
| Veo a Juan. | I see Juan. |
| Busco a mi hermana. | I’m looking for my sister. |
| Conozco a tu profesor. | I know your teacher. |
But not with things: Veo la casa (no “a”). Also skip it after hay: Hay un hombre.
